Basking Ridge Chiropractor Reflects on Olympic Gold

Dr. Fred Rossi, team chiropractor for U.S. wrestlers, files another blog from Olympics following two gold wins.

On the last day of the Olympic games, Sunday, Basking Ridge chiropractor Fred Rossi prepared to head to the match where U.S. freestyle men's wrestler Jake Varner would face a Ukranian opponent in a competition for the gold.

"Last match of the Olympics put Jake Varner against Ukraine," Rossi wrote on his blog, which he has been to keep the team's spines adjusted.

"Would be a great way to end the olympic experience. Either way it has been an experience worth blogging about," Rossi wrote in his notes, which have been accompanied by photos and some video.

By the beginning of this week, he was able to happily report that Varner, wrestling at 96kg, had indeed won the gold, and that Friday's gold medal wrestler, Jersey guy Jordan Borroughs, had been invited to appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

"Got to meet Jordan's mother at the after party to Jersey bond with her...great woman," Rossi added.

As for Varner, Rossi wrote, "Varner showed up big and wrestled extremely well. The Ukranian in the finals was frustrated as he couldn't get to Varner. His [Varner's] coach Cael Sanderson is so proud of Jake and his gutsy performance."

Another U.S. freestyle wrestler, Coleman Scott, earned a bronze medal. Rossi said he asked Scott how it felt to win bronze and of course he responded, "I wish it was gold but it feels good to medal."

Scott had 95 guests cheering him on in London, Rossi reported. "That is some fan support," Rossi said.

Patch will try to catch up with Rossi when he's home and rested for more on his Olympic journey and being part of the team effort for U.S. freestyle wrestlers.

Rossi is a chiropractor at Rossi Family Chiropractic on Valley Road in Stirling, where he said he has patients ranging in age from six weeks to age to age 92. He said he also works with the wrestling team at Watchung Hills Regional High School.

Rossi Family Chiropractic has a second office in Phillipsburg, and he is owner of a health club, Club Metro USA, in that city, he said.
