Looking for something to do on Friday morning?

Well, adults can learn how to make floral centerpieces without spending a fortune to get a professional to do it.

And kids — they can head over to the library for some pirate fun!

Pirate Bonnie Bess
When/Where: On Friday, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m, at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge. Recommended for ages 5 and under with adult.
Why Go: Interactive story play loaded with swashbuckling fun!

Centerpieces from Your Garden
When/Where: Friday, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at off Valley Road in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Why pay for pricey floral centerpieces that might not be what you really wanted anyway? Learn how to beautifully arrange the flowers cut from your own garden. 'Floral guru' Mike will demonstrate how to create elegant arrangements with common blooms such as Black-eyed Susans, coneflowers, ferns and more.

Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m. at Zebu Forno, Morristown
Why Go: You're feeling artistic.

$10 (includes two slices of pizza, drink and three hours with model)


When/Where:
Saturday 9 a.m. at the Morris Plains Farmer's Market located at 740 Speedwell Ave.
Why Go: You're an animal lover and want to get a head start on 4th of July festivities.
Cost: Free, but donations accepted in either money, dog and cat food, or kitty litter.

Family Day and Fireworks
When/Where: Saturday, 5 p.m. festivities start, and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at the Morris Plains Community Park located at 51 Jim Fear Drive.
Why Go: To have some fun with your family and friends and enjoy food, entertainment, and fireworks.
Cost: Free


When/Where: Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at VFW Post 3401 at 45 Tabor Road, Morris Plains
Why Go: To support our veterans and enjoy some food and drinks, and a live band.
Cost: $25 for advance tickets, $30 at the door, $10 for kids 13-16, and free for kids 12 and under


When/Where: 7 p.m. Thursday, , 41 Oliver St, Chatham
Why Go: Win home-made baskets, taste delicious strawberry desserts and enjoy the good company at this summer festival.
