Giant July 4 Celebration, Right in Bridgewater

Lucky Somerset County residents don't even have to head far from home to attend a big Independence Day gala!

Sometimes there's just not enough time in the day, but each week, Patch will give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself.

Families from across Somerset County will have the chance to celebrate the Fourth of July at Somerset County’s biggest party, the 42nd annual Independence Day Family Festival, to begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

Admission is free to the gala event at North Branch Park on Milltown Road in Bridgewater.

The evening of Americana represented by patriotism, music, and family entertainment will include a variety of performers, historical reenactments celebrating the birth of the nation, a reenactment of a Revolutionary War encampment by the Third New Jersey Regiment Revolutionary Encampment, children’s games and activities, plenty of food, and a sensational display of fireworks.

Stage performances will present a range of American music styles to appeal to different tastes and the enjoyment of children and adults alike.

The performers Wallstreet will kick off Independence Day entertainment at North Branch Park, playing both their original hits and classic soul tunes. Then Smooth will take the stage with their re-creation of the Motown sounds of the Temptations, Four Tops, and Smokey Robinson.

With a great brass section and smooth-as-silk voices, Smooth will keep the party rocking, according to the announcement by the Somerset County Park Commission, which is presenting the Independence Day party.

The park commission a spectacular fireworks display will follow at 9:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks only will be presented either on July 5 or on the first clear evening to follow at 9:30 p.m.
