Sign Up Online for Summer Reading at Bernards Library

You don't have to leave your armchair to sign up for summer reading for teens, but there's things to do at the library, too.

Haven't signed up yet for summer reading at the Now, students in grades 7 to 12 can sign up online any hour of the day or night for the library's summer reading program.

Read and record 10 hours or more of reading and receive a book prize, according to the library staff. For every hour that registered students read and for every book review completed, participants will be entered into weekly drawings for $25 Amazon gift cards and a grand prize of a $50 Visa gift card at the end of the summer.

The library also will hold monthly drawings for prizes. Every time participants visit the library, they may enter to win the following prizes:

June 19 to July 19 — Hunger Games box set, $25 gift card, The Mortal Instruments box set

July 19 to August 19 — Pretty Little Liars box set, $25 gift card, Percy Jackson box set

The library also has other programs and activities for residents in middle school and high school coming up, including a meeting of the Anime Club, scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday, July 5, to watch episodes with your friends; a meeting of the Teen Advisory Board from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wed., July 11, to plan future library events and volunteer projects; a 2 p.m. showing of "Mirror Mirror" on lucky Movie Friday, July 13; and a summer creative writing contest, with admissions accepted July 9 through Aug. 15, with cash prizes for short fiction and poetry.

Entry forms for the creative writing contest will be available online starting July 9, or are available in the library when you sign up for summer reading.
