Collections Begin This Week for Upcoming Giant AAUW Book Sale

Monday is first day to drop off donations of books, dvds and cds at the Bernardsville Middle School.

Book donations will be accepted at the Bernardsville Middle School loading dock on Monday through Thursday and next week, on Aug. 5, in preparation for the upcoming annual giant book sale held each year by the Somerset Hills branch of the American Association of University Women.

Donors unable to drop off books during the collection period should call call Bonnie at 908-647-2791, according to the web site for the Somerset Hills AAUW

The collection times on those days will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year, the organizers will no longer be accepting the following donations: reference sets, encyclopedias, textbooks, records or cassette or VHS tapes, the website said.

Meanwhile, students and others have an opportunity to log volunteer hours helping organizers either during the donation period or during the sale itself.On those days, students are needed for shifts of two to six hours each day, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Bernardsville Middle School off Seney Drive in Bernardsville. There is no air conditioning.

The actual sale itself this year is from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 and Friday, Aug. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. 

The sale benefits the AAUW's scholarships program, local libraries and other charities.
