The Cookie Walk's Youngest Bakers

Not all of the hundreds of cookies that will be laid out in all their sweet and colorful splendor at this Saturday's in Basking Ridge will have been baked by adults.

As is traditional, preschool children at the in Basking Ridge center have been baking their own cookies this week. The cookies will be donated to the annual fundraiser for the Adult Day Center at the on Mount Airy Road in Basking Ridge.

The Tree House children have been baking for at least about a dozen years, as long as she has been working there, said preschool teacher Meg Falduto.

The Cookie Walk in earlier years was held in Westminster Hall, the auditorium of she said. "Since the Tree House is in the church basement, we would bake cookies and just bring them upstairs," she said.

Although the VNA has since moved the event over to the organization's new offices on Mount Airy Road, the kids still love baking, Falduto said. "The school has continued to participate every year."

"The ladies at the VNA are always so grateful for our sometimes burnt cookies," Falduto said. "And it's such a worthwhile cause."

Children in the two-year-old class, pictured here, did their baking earlier this week, while other classes were planning to bake on Thursday and Friday, she said.
