New Mayor, Other Bernards Appointments, To Highlight Bernards Reorganization Scheduled With to Return to Town Hall

If history is any indication, this year's Bernards Township Deputy Mayor, John Carpenter, will move into the top spot of mayor for 2014 at the Bernards Township reorganization meeting scheduled for Jan. 2. And the meeting is supposed to be back in the refurbished main meeting room and courtroom at the township municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane in time for the first meeting of the New Year.

Holiday Walk With Santa to Replace Annual Holiday Parade Next Thursday in Liberty Corner

It may not be an official parade, but the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce this year will hold a Holiday Walk & Meet Santa evening event this coming Thursday in downtown Liberty Corner Village. All residents are invited to meet at 7 p.m. at the flagpole in the center of Liberty Corner, and walk together to the nearby Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church Center Court for refreshments and a meet-and-greet with Santa.

The first major snowfall of the year brought Basking Ridge to a pause, if not a complete standstill. Bernards Township schools were closed, as was the township library, and some accidents occurred on slippery roads. But the Bernards Township Committee's last meeting of the year went on that night, although at the township library since the municipal meeting room is undergoing finishing touches — the township clerk had the key to get in.

Bernards Township Man Indicted for Allegedly Having At Least 100 Child Porn Pictures

A Bernards man who was charged with allegedly possessing child pornography in September was indicted by a grand jury in Somerville on Wednesday on a child endangerment charge. John Schulenberg, 59, was reported to police when he was allegedly seen taking pictures of students at a school bus stopat Adamsville Road and Chelsea Way on Sept. 17. In last week's indictment, Schulenberg was said to have allegedly possessed at least 100 or more images of children engaged in what appeared to be real or simulated sex acts, NJ.com reported.
