Bernards Police to Hold Crime Prevention Session After Two More Break-Ins

Following two more break-ins last weekend in Bernards Township, which took place in The Hills section on Saturday, Bernards Township police are inviting residents to attend an information session to discuss residential burglaries, and to provide crime prevention advice. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Brrr...It's Cold Outside in the Somerset Hills

The cold snap in this area just wouldn't break this week — even so, people were out on Wednesday after Tuesday's snowstorm, whether shopping, shoveling — or sledding. Even being in school for the day — after a delayed opening in Bernards schools on Wednesday morning — didn't stop some determined kids (with a few brave moms) from heading out in 15-degree weather late in the afternoon to enjoy the perfect powder in a favorite sledding hill behind Oak Street School. Other kids who braved the cold were tossing around a football at Bernards High in Bernardsville — where students had the day off from school.

Ridge Boys Basketball, Now 10-2, Revives Winning Streak Against P'Burg on Friday

Photos and updated new on the Red Devils boys basketball team, which has had a mostly winning season before losing to Hillsborough on Thursday night. But the team was back on track with a victory over Phillipsburg on Friday.

Urgent Health Care Center Moves Into Lyons Mall

Some residents already have found their way to a new urgent care facility in the Lyons Mall, AstraHealth Center, whether to attend this weekend's open house or because they were already seeking treatment for lacerations, sprains, fractures, sudden infections or other non-life threatening emergencies. The center can be an alternative to a hospital emergency room.

Tract Near Missing Man's Home Still Focus of Search


David Bird, 55, of the Millington section in Long Hill Township now has been missing for two solid weeks, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said mid-week there was no new information. The search still was focused on the same area around Bird's home, but was suspended temporarily in the snow.
