Harvest Music Fest Benefit Comes to Basking Ridge

Bernards Township Chamber partners with Ridge Family Dentistry for fundraiser Saturday evening.

The Jersey Rollers will bring their band to town Saturday evening for a food-fundraising Harvest Music Fest hosted by the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce and Ridge Family Dentistry on the porch of dentistry office in downtown Basking Ridge.

The Jersey-based band will assist the chamber and Ridge Family Dentistry in raising awareness, non-perishable donations of food, hygiene products and financial assistance for the Morristown Soup Kitchen.

No charge, but request for donations of non-perishable foods or toiletries

The no-charge event, which instead asks that music lovers bring donations of non-perishable foods and/or toiletries for the soup kitchen, is scheduled to be held outdoors on the covered porch of Ridge Family Dentistry, 44 S. Finley Ave. The full event is set to take place from 5 to 9 p.m.

The band is expected to perform from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The chamber and Ridge Family Dentistry invite all area residents to start their weekend off with outdoor music and fun.

Albert LiCata, executive director of the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce, noted that attendees can call ahead and have a dinner ready upon arrival for pickup from Chamber Member establishments such as the downtown Ridge Restaurant at 908-766-5701.

Other chamber Member Restaurants can be found on the chamber website or by calling the chamber at 908-766-6755.

Instead of charging for the event, the chamber encourages "guests to help with us by bringing donations of non-perishable foods or toiletries."

Items needed include: Hearty cans of soup/chili/stew, preferably flip-top (this is easiest for those who are homeless); low-sugar cereal; individual packets of nuts or trail mix; canned chicken and tuna; toiletries such as shampoo, razors, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste; white tube socks; and L and XL T-shirts.

"Enjoy the concert, bring along a comfortable camp chair to sit in while you enjoy the music and together we can help those in need while coming together for a great time,” according to  Dr. Cam Witt of Ridge Family Dentistry and LiCata.

The event is a spinoff from this summer's lunchtime Music & Munch concerts that the chamber and dentistry office held earlier in Basking Ridge center, said Barbara Long, President of the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“Working with Dr. Witt and his team has been wonderful and now through this event, people can kick off their weekends in a fun and relaxing atmoshpere while knowing we are helping others."

For more information contact the chamber at 908-766-6755. Donations will also be accepted that evening.
