The Bernards Police Department manages all aspects of law enforcement in the community.

The department contains an Office of Emergency Management to create and implement plans in response to potential emergencies, such as terrorist threats, and to develop the township's emergency alertness capabilities.

The department's largest division is its Patrol Division. The patrol division consists of four squads, each with one sergeant and five patrol officers.

In addition to the police on patrol, the department also has an investigation division, to provide detective work for crimes, suspicious incidents and missing persons, a juvenile officer to deal with law enforcement related issues with school-age children and a traffic division.
