I've never written a review before but I had to for the Soup Shoppe in Basking Ridge. What a disappointment! I ordered turkey chili and it had the ingredients and consistency of watery chicken vegetable soup. I asked the server if there'd been a mistake in my order and the manager chimed in that they've been making it that way for 10 years. So, I guess that automatically makes it chili? My husband couldn't believe it, and also was very disappointed in an extremely bland sausage/bean soup. Our meals came with "fruit," which consisted of green, unripened bananas. Eck! Never again! Oh, and if you go to their website and check out the photos, don't expect to have your soup or "chili" served in a nice china bowl with melted cheese on top. Plastic "take-out" cups were what we got for eat-in, with no offer of toppings of any kind.

With over 65 soups, rotated daily, it would be hard to get bored at the Soup Shoppe. Each day, the Soup Shoppe publishes that day's menu of 6 soup selections (some vegetarian), hot and cold sandwich specials, a salad special and a hot special. There are also signature sandwiches and wraps, and always some homemade cookies to round out the meal. If soup is what you are after, it makes a meal when accompanied by a piece of fruit and your choice of roll. But, if you are extra hungry, there is plenty to choose from.

Owner is a crazed golem. Yells at everyone so randomly, you cringe just watching it happen. He must think he is someone special since he treats everyone like dirt. Personality issues not worth standing in line for the soup.
