Activities abound as we enjoy a mild winter that lets us get out and about.
Here we are, already well through winter, and (although you may wish otherwise if you're a skier) the weather is giving us the freedom to get out and enjoy many activities without worrying about driving home in the snow. This week, there are a variety of Valentine celebrations, no matter who your sweetie is. There's a cooking and wine tasting class for couples in Bridgewater, a Valentine's party for senior citizens and a chance to hear romantic (or rockin') music. Children's activities are included from around the area. To combine a Valentine's celebration and kids' night out, check out "Parents Night Out" for a place to let your kids bake Valentine's cookies while the grownups get some time to themselves! Hoffman scores 30 points and 12 rebounds for Gill St. Bernard's.
The atmosphere was tangible in Tuesday's heated playoff game. The contest was intense and physical. In the end, only one team could win this boys basketball shootout between Gill St. Bernard’s and Bridgewater-Raritan. Gill St. Bernard’s had the last laugh. Dominic Hoffman had a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Mitola became the school’s all-time leading scorer and the Gill St. Bernard’s Knights held on to win a close one over Bridgewater-Raritan, 65-61. “This is a wake-up call. We’re deep into the season now, we went through our first round of conference play, and this is the second time we’ve played Bridgewater,” said Knights head coach Mergin Sina. “To tell you the truth, they should have won the game. They wanted it …

Bernards Library to invite public to watch victory parade at the lower lobby at 11 a.m.
New Jersey Transit is offering extra service on select bus routes, increasing capacity on some train lines, and—along with some advice—adding customer service representatives at Newark Penn Station and Hoboken terminal Tuesday morning to assist Giants fans attending the Super Bowl victory ticker-tape parade in Lower Manhattan. The parade will begin downtown at Battery Place and Washington Street at 11 a.m., and continue northward up the Canyon of Heroes to Worth Street. The parade will wrapup a ceremony at City Hall Plaza. Those heading in were urged to make the trip after 9 a.m. to avoid commuter crowds, and to have someone drop them off at crowded commuter lots at stations. The debate continues.
It's an argument that's been boiling over since 1976–or, at least since the Giants started winning Super Bowls. Where to hold the victory parade? The Canyon of Heroes, as is the traditional place a New York-based sporting team takes its victory lap (the G-Men are set to walk down at 11 a.m. Tuesday), or in New Jersey, where the newly-crowned Super Bowl champion team has actually been located for 36 years? It's hotly-debated, so much so Gov. Chris Christie has been calling them the "New Jersey" Giants. What do you think? Should it be exclusively in New Jersey? New York? Or, can football fans from both sides of the border agree that the Giants are both states' teams? Chime in below.
New York mounts comeback on final drive to beat New England.
INDIANAPOLIS – The crowd was eerily quiet as Eli Manning and the Giants took over for one last drive in the final four minutes of Super Bowl XLVI. Like he’s done countless times during the 2011 season, Manning made a series of precision passes – five to be exact, including a 38-yard out route to Mario Manningham that sparked the drive – and set New York up inside the 10-yard line. Ahmad Bradshaw finished the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run that capped a 21-17 Giants victory over the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday night. Manning, who was 30-for-40 passing, threw for 296 yards and one touchdown, earning his second Super Bowl MVP award against the Patriots. “We moved the ball down the field, and Eli [Manning] made some …
