Mosque Proposal's First Hearing, National Night Out This Week

Monday is last day to contribute books to annual AAUW used book sale, to be held later in the week.

Tuesday is going to be a busy night in this area. National Night Out, a nationwide initiative that on a local level mixes local police with their community members, is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. that night in Ridge High School. The Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce also will be on hand to offer activities, information and other services. Update: A movie initially planned for after the event has been canceled. The food, information and entertainment at the Bernards event is free, as is Bernardsville's version of National Night Out. The Bernardsville event starts at 6 p.m. at the Bernardsville Pool off Seney Drive. Ahead: Book Donations for AAUW Sale; Final Concert

Beatlemania Again scheduled to wrap up this summer's free outdoor concert series at Pleasant Valley Park.

For more than 60 years, the giant used book sale presented each August by the Somerset Hills AAUW has attracted book lovers from throughout the region, and beyond, to search for bargains or treasured volumes among thousands of books carefully sorted by volunteers to be sold at the Bernardsville Middle School. And all those books come from donations. Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, and continuing until 3 p.m., with the same hours each day through Thursday, donations of hardcover and paperback books, CDs and DVDs will be accepted at the Bernardsville Middle School, 141 Seney Drive in Bernardsville. Book Donations Being Accepted Now For AAUW's Giant Annual Sale

Basking Ridge sale chairman says improved selection, hard work, continue to raise sale standards despite school budget challenges.

The Somerset Hills American Association of University Women (AAUW) is well underway with the task of sorting and preparing books for the AAUW's annual used book sale. Book donations continue to be accepted through today, Thursday, and also next Monday, Aug. 8. The annual sale — which draws book lovers from all over the New York metropolitan area — is scheduled to be held at the Bernardsville Middle School on Thursday, Aug. 11, and Friday, Aug. 12, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. as well as Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Book donations will be accepted at the Bernardsville Middle School on Thursday and next Monday between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Middle School is located at 141 Seney Drive near the Bernardsville municipal pool.
