With a name like Upton O'Good, this bulldog pup only needs a bowler hat to complete the picture...but he's described as a playful and gentle pup. This week's roundup focuses on dogs with names that are fanciful...but seem somehow incongruous with the dogs they're attached to—what do you think? Could you imagine these pooches would come running if you called out their names? Regardless of what the name is, though, they will all make fine pets, perhaps your best friend—if you are considering a new pet, adopting a homeless dog or cat is the best way to go. Contact the rescue groups below for information about any of the featured dogs—or inquire about other pets they may have available for adoption. St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, located …

The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable are seeking homes for horses.
Though there are many dogs and cats in need of homes, thousands of other animals are also in need of care—from snakes to birds, if someone has one as a pet, odds are others tried it too and found the animals weren't right for them. Incredibly, that includes horses, one of the smartest of all domesticated animals. Adopting a horse will require more consideration than some other animals—you'll need to either have a stable or be able to afford a place for your horse. But the joys of providing loving care to a horse are no less than a smaller pet—and can be even more rewarding. Lord Stirling Stable often seeks homes for horses kept at the stable and used for teaching programs. If you're interested in learning more about adopting horses from …

Rin Tin Tin was a homeless dog, found on a battlefield during World War I who became a Hollywood hero. Tell us your story of a loyal pet Anyone who's ever had one of this breed (and of course, other pets) know that they are extremely generous in giving loyalty. Warren's Rawhide Rescue has helped hundreds of people find pets from among the homeless animals they've rescued. On April 29, some of those pets—and people—will meet again at a special "Alumni Day." "We’re having an artist give dog sketches, a 'Free Style' doggie dancing demo, a dog walk, and a craft market," Laurie Green, of Rawhide Rescue, said. The event will be held at Colonial Park, in Franklin, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There's no charge, so feel free to stop by and meet some of the dogs and people who've benefitted by adopting a homeless pet. Some of the presentations at Alumni Day will be sponsored by Camp Bow Wow, the daycare and overnight "camp" in Bridgewater. "For the upcoming Alumni Day, besides promoting the event, Camp will be…
