It was neighbor against neighbor on Wednesday.
The No. 7 Ridge High School Red Devils boys lacrosse met up with neighbor no. 19 Bernards High School on Wednesday afternoon for a Somerset County quarterfinal match. The host team ended up sending Bernards home with a decisive 19-7 defeat. Ridge was lead by Owen Molloy with 5 goals, J.T. Palladino with 4 goals and Eric Scott with 4 goals. Bernards got 3 goals from Devin Ray. The Ridge boys head to the semifinal game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, playing the winner of Thursday's match between Immaculata High School and Rutgers Prep. Bernards next plays St. Peter’s Prep at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Franklin High School Sweeps at major track competition held at Hillsborough High School.
An estimated 650 or more students from high schools throughout the county came together for Tuesday's Somerset County Track Championships held at Hillsborough High School. The students participated in 15 events that included running, jumping and throwing, starting after school and continuing until the skies got dark. About 1,500 attended. Coming out on top of the boys and girls rankings were the teams from Franklin with the highest ranking Patch town Hillsborough, which captured a second for the girls and fourth for the boys. High School to launch new wall of honor project after taking nominations through Aug. 15.
After more than 100 years of history, Bernards High School is planning to install a Wall of Honor, perhaps accompanied by a sculpture, that will honor "exemplary citizens that serve as role models for all members of the Bernards High School community." "It's a tremendous project," said Bernards High Principal Scott Neigel. The project still is in the planning stages. Neigel said that a sculpture, possibly a tree with branches reaching out to different areas of achievement, is being considered for the wall that is near the community room at the high school. Sources of funding also still are being explored, Neigel said on Thursday. But the principal was definite in giving credit to the initiative to the Bernards High student council. Neigel …

The Pingry School, Ridge High School, and Bernards High School were competitiors with eight other county schools in this past weekend's Somerset County Relays, held at Ridge in Bernards Township. Among the finishes, Ridge's Sprint Medley team of Tyler Jurewicz, Connor Collins, Alex Schraer, and James Murphy set a school record of 3:41.3. And Ridge's Andrew Claps added his school record triple jump of 41-0.5 to Connor Collins' leap to take home gold for Ridge. On the girls' side, Ridge finished fourth, just 2 points ahead of fifth place Bernards. Pingry was eighth, according to information from the Ridge team. Pingry takes game, but Bernards' Mueller hits home run.
Bernards High School's varsity softball team met up with Pingry's team at Bernards on Monday afternoon, and the game went to Pingry, 5-1. However, second baseman Amy Mueller, (10) batting 2-3, hit a homer for Bernards. Bernards' pitcher was Nicole Robertson (37). Season records now are 1-2 for Bernards, and 3-1 for Pingry. First round held Monday at Hidden Valley, second and final day scheduled for Tuesday at Mount Peter Ski Are in New York.
Girls and boys varsity ski teams for Ridge High School, and the girls varsity team for Bernards High School raced on Monday in the first day of the two-day state finals with representatives from eight high schools around New Jersey, according to information from the Ridge team. A giant slalom race on the first day of the two-day event was held on Monday afternoon at Hidden Valley Ski area in Vernon. The second day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with slalom races at Mount Peter Ski Area in Warwick, N.Y., according to information from the Ridge ski team. Ridge gets scoring from 7 different players in 7-1 victory
The Ridge High School hockey team dominated Bernards Saturday in its last scheduled game of the season. Ridge came out strong, scoring three times in the first four minutes of play. Ridge had goals from Kyle Leddy, Geoff Vogt, Matt Zarabarra, Eric Menzel, Shrey Khetarpal, Dan Trapani and Kyle Seidel. The lone Bernards goal would come late in the game from Daniel Osika. "It was a great game," Ridge coach Tim Mullin, Sr. said. "Bernards played Wednesday and had a big game with Hunterdon Central last night, it was hard on them. But you have to play the game. Ninth annual Bernards High ski team fundraiser again provides food, music, fine selection of wines and socializing in Bernards Township.
With the student skiers pitching in to serve food and assist guests, the Bernards High School ski racing team held its 9th annual food and wine tasting fundraiser on Saturday night at the Liberty Corner firehouse in Bernards Township. The event drew a crowd to sample wines from 56 Degrees wine shop in Bernardsville, pizza and Italian specialties from Millie's Old World Meatballs and Pizza in Morristown and also edibles prepared by the parents of the ski team. Organizer Steve Katz of Far Hills later said that 180 people attended. Music was provided by the Psycho-Delics, with members from the Gladstone section of Peapack-Gladstone. This Saturday night is an opportunity to enjoy food, music and a wine tasting provided by the 56 Degree Wine shop in Bernardsville and at the same time raise funds for the Bernards High School Ski Racing Team Fundraiser will help support a high school sport funded completely by parents. The 9th annual event is scheduled for 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Liberty Corner Firehouse, 95 Church Street, in Liberty Corner.
