Paraguayan Election On for Sunday at Bernardsville Train Station

UPDATE: Representatives allowing first-time voting outside of Paraguay meet deadline for making arrangements.

The Bernardsville train station will be the scene of a historic election on Sunday, April 21. An empty area of the station will become a voting location for the nation of Paraguay, which for the first time is allowing its citizens living in the U.S. and some other countries to cast a vote for a new Paraguayan president. The Bernardsville Council on Monday had given tentative approval to the plan, but first said that the consulate serving this area needed to get security arrangements, insurance and other paperwork in order with borough officials before the end of Wednesday's business day. Teen Charged With Careless Driving After Ambulance Collision, Cops Say

5 people injured in crash, transported to hospital.

A Bedminster teen was ticketed for careless driving after she collided with a Bernardsville First Aid Squad ambulance near the train station off Mine Brook Road, according to a borough police report. The crash resulted in five people, including two in the car and three volunteers with the Bernardsville First Aid Squad, being transported to Morristown Medical Center, according to authorities. The report also said Paige L. Arace, 17, who was driving a Jetta southbound on Mine Brook Road while the ambulance was heading northbound, told police that as she was about to turn left into the train station, she noticed a pickup truck behind her with its own emergency lights activated. This is not just a common traffic collision... This person pulled in front of an ambulance with emergency lights and probably sirens activated... While I agree with you that names may not be necessary, you can not dismiss this the same as "every traffic incident occurring in the township."   more ›

Ambulance, Car Collide by Bernardsville Train Station

Multiple injuries when car reportedly turns in front of ambulance.

A Bernardsville ambulance reportedly struck a car turning into the Bernardsville train station on Monday afternoon when the car turned in front of the emergency vehicle, bringing more ambulances from the nearby fire and rescue squad building and also from Basking Ridge, said Bernardsville Police Chief Kevin Valentine. The crash was reported at 3:05 p.m. on Monday, and resulted in the two people in the car being transported to Morristown Medical Center, according to the accident report, which had yet to be completed later on Monday afternoon.
