Juvenile in Critical Condition After Being Struck on Route 22

Flown to Morristown Memorial Hospital after being hit while walking in left lane.

A juvenile was in critical condition at Morristown Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car Monday while walking in the left lane of Route 22. Louis Bucci III was driving westbound under the Route 202/206 overpass at 7:45 a.m. when he struck the pedestrian in the left lane, Bridgewater Township Police said in a release. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital by Medivac helicopter, and was listed in critical condition. Police did not release the gender or age of the victim, or any further details beyond the news release, and did not return calls Tuesday morning. Reward Offered to Solve Bound Brook Man's Murder

Then-25-year-old disappeared in 1973, and his remains were matched to DNA samples in 2011.

The Crime Stoppers of Somerset County Inc. is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information concerning the 1973 disappearance and murder of Bound Brook resident Joseph Dziowgo, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano. According to Soriano, on May 10, 1973, Bridgewater Township Police received a report that then 25-year-old Dziowgo, living on Drake Street in Bound Brook, was missing. In May 2010, Soriano said, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office detectives spoke to Dziowgo's family about a DNA initiative through the University of North Texas. After obtaining consent from the family, Soriano said, they got a DNA sample from family members to attempt to locate the missing man. Then, in September 2010 Soriano said, …

Chain Reaction Causes Route 206 Accident, Cops Say

Only minor injuries were reported.

A Chevy Malibu caught on fire Tuesday morning after it hit another vehicle, which hit another, on Route 206 North near Commons Way, according to Bridgewater Township Officer Robert Stasiulaitis. According to Stasiulaitis, the first car stopped on Route 206 North at 8:58 a.m., and a second car slowed down to stop behind. The third car, he said, didn't stop, which caused a chain reaction with all three on Route 206 North, heading toward Route 287. "It is most likely they were stopping for regular traffic, it didn't seem like there was anything in particular," he said, adding that there had been a minor fender bender in the median just before the accident occurred. Basking Ridge Man Accused of Lifting $300 Speakers from Apple Store

The following report was obtained from the Bridgewater Township police and does not indicate a conviction.

A Basking Ridge resident was charged with shoplifting after he was allegedly found with items from the Apple Store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall last week, Bridgewater Township police said. Dean Langas, 21, was arrested after allegedly being found with a wireless speaker, valued at $299.95, on July 5 shortly before 1 p.m., according to the police report. Langas was processed and released, said Bridgewater Township Police. Lord & Taylor, Macy's also reported shoplifting incidents at the Bridgewater Commons Mall, police said. Miquel Chavez, 23, of North Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting after he allegedly was found with $274 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor at 1 p.m. July 4.
