Weekend celebration marks birthdays of township, Ridge High.
No one could ever accuse Basking Ridge native Mary Lewis Kinnan of lacking courage. Kinnan, a 19th century resident who moved to western Virginia and was kidnapped by Indians before her eventual return home, was just one of the local folk whose stories and memories were retold during last weekend's Celebrate Bernards "250 Years of Memories." The presentation at Ridge High School, held Friday night and Saturday afternoon, was one of this year's special events celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the township of Bernardston.
