Youth Art Month to Feature Battle of the Bands

Bridgewater, Bernards and Newark will go head to head in competition.

With bands from Bernards and Bridgewater in attendance, the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster is hosting Battle of the Bands Saturday as part of Youth Art Month. According to a release from the center, this event is part of the Youth Art Month programming, and will be held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the location on Burnt Mills Road in Bedminster. The event will feature performances by “Into the Trees” from Bernards High School, “Impulse” from Bridgewater-Raritan High School and “Panic Switch” from Newark Academy. The public is invited to attend the event, and the winning band will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Guitar Center. Admission is $5 at the door for the event. Refreshments will be served. Cedar Hill Student's Work To Be Featured At Contemporary Art Show

March is Youth Art Month at the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster.

The Center for Contemporary Art, in Bedminster, is preparing for its 14th annual Youth Art Month, and students from Basking Ridge, Warren, Hillsborough and several others are going to see their work featured. A third grader from the Cedar Hill Elementary School, Veronica Fabiano, is one of the featured artists. The exhibition will take place throughout part of March in an exhibition of Somerset County student work done in partnership with Art Educators of New Jersey. Each year, according to a release from the center, every state submits a Youth Art Month report to the National Art Education Association, and awards of excellence are given out. Renowned Painter to Discuss Art at Bedminster Center

Mel Leipzig is coming to the Center for Contemporary Art.

Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself. Living legend New Jersey painter Mel Leipzig is visiting the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster Thursday to discuss painting, art and the Romantic Realism exhibit, currently on display at the center. Leipzig, according to a release from the center, was recently featured in an NJN documentary that aired across the country, and was on the cover of the November issue of “Professional Artist” magazine. Bedminster Arts Center Benefit Highlights Style, Stylistas

Speakers include reality star Gayle Giacomo, designer Elisa Jimenez and many more.

The Center for Contemporary Arts, based in Bedminster, held its "Look Good, Feel Good" Spring Benefit, "She's All That," Sunday at the Bridgewater Marriott. The event included reality show celebrities, celebrity and fashion bloggers and many fashion and beauty vendors. Among the special guests were Gayle Giacomo, star of the reality TV show, "Jerseylicious."  Giacomo, a Bridgewater resident, is a the owner of the Gatsby Salon in Green Brook. Another celebrity guest was Elisa Jimenez, an avant-garde designer and former contestant on the Bravo's "Project Runway." Grant Awarded to Center for Contemporary Art

Bedminster non-profit receives funding from Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation

The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster was awarded a first-time grant for 2012 from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. According to the center’s executive director, Elie Porter Trubert, “The Dodge Foundation was impressed by the ways in which The Center is working to re-imagine the programming offered and to increase its significance to the community.” The grant was for $10,000, Trubert said. The center, located on Burnt Mills Road, was originally known as the Somerset Art Association (SAA) until late 2010. According to the website, the organization was founded in 1970 in Bernardsville “by a small group of dedicated artists who envisioned a place where they could gather, work and share ideas.” They initially focused on art …
