UPDATE: Indictment for Burglaries in Bernards, Elsewhere

A 44-year-old Hopatcong man is accused of prying open windows and stealing money and jewelry from homes in several counties, including Somerset, between July to September 2011. The investigation included a burglary on Mountain Road in Bernards Township reported last Aug. 30, authorities said. Edward Michael Carhardt Jr. was indicted on 35 counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief Thursday, according to a statement by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano. Carhardt, who lived at the Lakefront Lodge in Hopatcong, is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail in Somerset County Jail, Soriano said.
