Two Restaurants Close in Basking Ridge (UPDATE)

Negotiations reportedly underway for replacements for Doon Indian Valley Restaurant and Fresh restaurant's locations in two malls.

Two Basking Ridge restaurants, Fresh restaurant and Doon Indian Valley, have closed within the past few months, although only one space has been cleared out. However, agents say that negotiations are underway for new tenants for both properties. Fresh restaurant, located at the Highlands Village Center in The Hills section of Basking Ridge, has not been open since the end of 2012. "We are in discussions with a couple of restaurants to take over the space but want a theme that is a good mix with the other tenants and with the local area," Peter Wisniewski, executive vice president and principal for Coldwell Banker Commercial, Feist & Feist Realty Corp., said on Thursday morning. Cash Stolen From Lyons Cleaners

Bernards Township police said break-in apparently took place at about 4 a.m. on Monday.

Lyons Fine Cleaners at the Lyons Mall was burglarized before dawn on Monday morning, with an undisclosed amount of cash taken, according to Bernards Township Police. The burglary, with entry likely gained through a window, apparently occurred at about 4 a.m., with police being contacted later Monday morning, the police report said. The cash apparently was removed from cash registers, police said. Lyons Fine Cleans is located at 26 Lyons Mall.

Tractor-Trailer Downs Wires, Closes Road Near Lyons Mall

Traffic diverted Friday night.

A tractor-trailer knocked down some utility lines on South Finley Avenue just south of the intersection with Stonehouse Road on Friday evening, requiring a small section of the road to be blocked off in front of the Lyons Mall, police said. The road, closed earlier in the evening, remained closed at about 7:30 p.m. while police said that a repair crew from Verizon was coming. Traffic was being diverted into southern end of the Lyons Mall, and was then able to bypass the closed section at the traffic light intersection with Stonehouse Road. Vehicles were able to either cross onto Stonehouse, or continue heading north onto Lyons Road. Police at the scene said it was not known at that time when the repair crew would arrive. No one was …
