Another active open house schedule on a prime spring weekend with low interest rates.
Conventional wisdom used to be that the number of houses for sale rose in the springtime — and so did interest rates. Are you getting lots of browsers and/or seriously interested potential buyers at open houses. And house hunters — are you satisfied with what you've been seeing? Or do you think prices need to drop event lower? Please tell us in the comments section below. Here's this Sunday's list of open houses, taken from the Garden State Multiple Listing Service website and the AOL …

Few open houses scheduled on Mother's Day — but a new home might make Mom happy.
Sure, Mom would love to be taken out to brunch, or even breakfast as long as there's someone there to appreciate her. But maybe she'd like to head out to see some potential new homes after that last cup of coffee, or mimosa. After all, according to mortgage publishers HSH.com, average mortgage rates Friday for a 30-year fixed mortgage are were a smidgen above 4 percent, with some available at a little under. Can this last? Whatever, no one can argue that rates are at a historic low. And maybe Mom (or whoever) wants a new dining room to place those flowers, handprint from preschool or whatever else. Here's this weekend's short list, as of late Friday, on the Garden State Multiple Listing Service website and the AOL Real estate website. …

Group urges residents to attend Tuesday meeting, in preparation for objecting to potentially contaminated fill being brought in during quarry's closure period.
The Township Planning Board's planning consultant, Frank Banisch, is scheduled to appear at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday as possibly the final expert to appear on behalf of the township in the board's examination of plans by the Millington Quarry to close up and "rehabilitate" the quarry property off Stonehouse Road. Since the hearings on the quarry's proposal began last November, the quarry presented an array of witnesses, over the course of six hearings through November, outlining how the owners plan to someday transform the quarry pit and adjoining land into property usable for residential development. The planning board then called consultants on behalf of the township to dissect the plan, which, among other steps, would create a 50-acre lake …

100 new jobs arrive with company's relocation to Basking Ridge.
Company executives from France and representatives for state, federal and local government attended Wednesday's ribbon-cutting for Ipsen North America, an affair that marked the international pharma company's arrival in Basking Ridge. Ipsen relocated from its offices in December from Brisbane, Calif., and moved temporarily into rented quarters on Mount Airy Road in Bernardsville. The new 30,000-square-foot headquarters off Allen Road will house mostly commercial operations but also coordinators for research and development in the Boston area and elsewhere in the United States, according to Sean McKercher, president and general manager for Ipsen North America. He said the company plans to hire a total of about 100 people, and already has …
