The First Saturday of the Month Drop-off Event for recycling in Somerset County will take place this weekend on Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater. The event will be held at the Somerset County Recycling Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event allows residents to drop off tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items all at once when they are too busy to do so during the week. In addition, residents can take the opportunity to donate food items for the local food bank. Residents are allowed to drop off up to eight tires with or without rims, scrap metal, antifreeze and other usual curbside items, including chipboard items, plastic bottles and containers all marked #1 through #7. Somerset County residents don’t have to wait until spring to clean up around their homes. The Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, will be holding its next First Saturday of the Month Drop-off event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 7. First Saturday drop-off events enable busy residents to recycle outdated electronics, tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items in one fell swoop, as well as help people in the community who are less fortunate by donating food items for a local food bank. The Somerset County Recycling Division is offering Somerset County residents from all 21 municipalities an opportunity to pick up an additional recycling bucket for free between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Bernards Township Department of Public Works. The building is at 277 S. Maple Ave., in Basking Ridge. No registration is necessary, but proof of Somerset County residency is required.
