Ridge boys soccer wraps up state tournament at Tuesday game.

The Ridge Boys made it to the state quarter-finals, but dropped Tuesday's game against Scotch Plains-Fanwood, played in Scotch Plains. The game went 5-0 to No. 1 seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood in North Jersey 2, Group 2. The boys ended their season 7-10-3. Senior night was played prior to Hurricane Sandy, when the Ridge team held Franklin High School to a 0-0 tie after double overtime. The team then moved onto the first round of the state playoffs against Union, which Ridge won 2-1.

Ridge High School boys soccer celebrated Senior Night with a true team effort that resulted in holding the line against Franklin in a 0-0 tie after double overtime. "It was a well played game in terms of our possession and our patience. We were just unable to get a goal to get a result that I think we deserved," said Assistant coach Enzo Minicozzi. The Ridge boys will play the first round of the state playoffs Monday at Union, weather permitting.

When Ridge varsity boys soccer (6-6-2) came up against Hillsborough (9-2-1) on Thursday afternoon, the team was determined not to lose to the highly ranked vistors a second time this season. They didn't. The Ridge boys held the game to a 1-1 tie, with the goal scored by senior Wade Hoffman on a 25-year strike. Earlier in the season, Ridge had lost 2-0 to Hillsborough, ranked no. 9 in New Jersey by NJ.com. Ridge was looking to get a win back, but had to settle for not giving up another loss. "They played really hard against the #9 team in the state and stayed with them for the whole game," said Ridge assist coach Enzo Minicozzi. Next up — The team will face Watchung Hills on Saturday at 10 a.m. for quarter-final away game in Somerset …

Ridge High School boys soccer's Daniele Colbertaldo burst onto the field in a home game with Pingry on Thursday afternoon with a goal within a minute, but Big Blue wasn't to be denied. The Pingry players responded with three goals to win the game. After the team's latest win, which included a victory over Bridgewater-Raritan on Monday set to be televised on MSG Varsity TV (channel 14 on Optimum cable) at 4 p.m. on Friday, Pingry boys soccer now reportedly is 4-0. Next Up for Ridge: 10 a.m. on Saturday against Morris Catholic High School, away.

Ridge loses at Chatham on Thursday night game.
The Ridge High School boys varsity soccer team traveled to Cougar Field to face Chatham Thursday afternoon. Although the Devils played a strong game, the Cougars took the game 2-0. IN SHORT Ridge arrived at the field in Chatham knowing they were facing the North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 leader on their home turf. But the Devils did not appear intimidated, playing a physical and inspired game against the Cougars. Ridge had a number of opportunities but were unable to capitalize.
