Ridge Girls Soccer Season Ends At Championship

Red Devils unable to overcome early deficit to Lenape in Group 4 final.

The Ridge High School girls soccer team fell to Lenape 2-0 Saturday in the NJSIAA Group 4 championship at The College of New Jersey. Lenape, which beat Ridge in the 2008 final, scored two first-half goals for the victory Saturday. FINAL IN SHORT Ridge was slow to gain steam at the start the game. Lenape took advantage and Courtney Kovac scored in just the fifth minute of play. Ridge made some offensive runs, but Lenape took a commanding lead with 10 minutes left in the half when Katie Rigby scored to make it 2-0. Girls Soccer Going For Championship Saturday

Team will travel to College of New Jersey in Ewing to take on nemesis Lenape Regional from Burlington County.

The Ridge girls soccer team will face the team from Lenape Regional at The College of New Jersey for the Group 4 final championship match at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Ridge team beat the previously undefeated Montclair girls soccer on Tuesday when Kelly McWhorter scored the sole goal of the game in the 67th minute of the game to clinch a 1-1 victory. The Ridge High School girls soccer team now advances to the Group 4 championship game, which will be played in the college in Ewing. The Lenape girls soccer team, from Burlington County, won the state championship against Ridge in 2008. Ridge's season record is 16-4-3. Stay posted to Patch for updates and a story.

Girls Soccer Blanked by Watchung Hills, Boys Won

Ridge girls are outshot 12-5 on goal and is blanked for the first time since opening week, while boys soundly beat Warriors in home game.

Opponent Samantha DePinho from Watchung Hills scored two goals  and the Ridge High School girls soccer team could not find an answer Tuesday, as the Red Devils were blanked 4-0 by the Warriors at Tozier Stadium in Warren. On the same day, the boys soccer team reversed the score to beat the Watchung Hills Warriors 4-0 in a home game in Basking Ridge. Jameson Lochhead, Zach and Derek Lyons and Randy Regner scored goals for the boys' team, according to a parent. Ridge Girls Soccer Grabs Another Victory

The Red Devils girls soccer team scores a goal in each half and outshoots the Franklin Warriors 18-5.

Junior defender Nicole Bates scored a goal and assisted on another Thursday and the Ridge High School girls soccer team held Franklin to just two shots on goal to claim a 2-0 victory in Somerset. GOALS: Bates (from McWhorter), Rijo (from Bates) SAVES: R — Axt 2; F —Chiarello 11 IN SHORT Bates snapped a scoreless tie with 4:07 left in the first half when she settled a Kelly McWhorter corner kick inside the box and headed it past Franklin keeper Gina Chiarello to give the Red Devils a 1-0 lead.
