High school foursome takes state Tournament of Champions at Cherry Valley Golf Course in Skillman.

The Ridge High School girls golf team won the state Tournament of Champions in a matchup of eight of New Jersey's top teams held Thursday at Cherry Valley Golf Course in Skillman. The three-year winning streak means that the girls varsity golf team has taken the state championship for most of the five years that the varsity girls golf program has existed. Senior Hana Ku, who was part of the last two years' winning team, led this year's foursome, golfing a 73, said head girls golf Coach Siobhan Devlin. Sophomores Monica Schumacher and Yunhee Kang each golfed a 81; and senior Katie Cappola golfed a 90, Devlin said. "I am thrilled," Devlin said on Thursday after the victory. She said the parents of the team had been very supportive, and, "The…

Resident 'Fed Up' With Ridge Traffic Plans Run for Committee

Bill Connors says he will run as write-in candidate for Bernards Twp. Committee if he gets enough signatures.

Editor's note: Resident Bill Connors weighs in on a proposal to install a new driveway off South Finley Avenue designed to better improve traffic flow at Ridge High School at 268 S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge, and says he would like to run as a write-in candidate for Bernards Township Committee to offer an alternative. To the Editor:  Are you as fed up as I am? I am writing this letter as a resident of South Finley Ave for the last 15 years. I live at 265 South Finley Ave,, directly across from the Bernards Township Health Department. In 2012 the Bernards Township Board of Education (BOE) and the Bernards Township Committee (TC) got together and formed a Joint Task Force (JTF) to review and recommend changes to the Ridge High School (RHS…

Reasonable people might differ in their evaluation of the merits of the various options brought forth after months of study by the task force, but the last thing the town needs is a one issue zealot with traffic rage on the township committee who thinks he's the only genius and clearly has no respect for our elected officials and township professional staff. That attitude will cause Washington …   more ›

Ridge Promgoers Dress Up for A Night to Remember

Red-carpet looks combine with warm memories for seniors and friends getting together for a big night for Class of '13.

Friday was truly a night to remember for Ridge High School seniors and their dates — some from other classes or towns — who put on a display of elegance as they arrived for the prom party at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany. But beneath all the finery, the students still were a group of friends who were taking advantage of one of the last chances for the Ridge class of 2013 to get together for a big special occasion — at least until next month's graduation. Many of the students also attended pre-prom parties around the town. Principal Frank Howlett and other chaperones were waiting for the students as they arrived — many riding with groups in limos — to help keep the evening organized. Please add your own photos. — Terry Boudreau …
