The Ridge High School Ski Racing Team will host a showing of the 2013 Warren Miller ski film, "Flow State" at 7 p.m. this Friday at the high school's Performing Arts Center (PAC). This will be the first showing in New Jersey of the winter season’s new film, Flow State, which was filmed in Alaska, Switzerland, Japan, Utah, Colorado and California. It features well known ski racer Ted Ligety, among others. The film is rated G and is 101 minutes long. For a preview of this film, visit www.skinet.com/warrenmiller/. Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon, New Jersey was closed on Thursday due to inclement weather. And there was no snow. But employees there were hopeful that the resort would be able to make some of the white stuff this holiday weekend—if it's cold enough. So far this year a lack of snow has meant fewer visitors to many ski resorts across the country. The strangely warmer temperatures also have prevented some resorts from making artificial snow. It's a far cry from last year, when most places reported record snow amounts, along with record attendance, by early 2011.
