N. Finley Avenue and Monarch Circle homes reported broken into last week, police said.
Forced entry was not used in two residential burglaries last week, Bernards Township Police said. An iPod touch and an iPad were reported stolen from within inside a North Finley Avenue home on either Sept. 5 or 6, police said. The resident filed the incident report at 8 a.m. Sept. 6, police said. Jewelry valued at $2,500 was also reported stolen on Sept. 6 from a Monarch Circle home, police said. The burglary occurred sometime after Aug. 24, police said. The owner apparently did not notice the jewelry was taken during that time period, police said.

Despite receiving promise the table umbrella would be returned, Basking Ridge restaurant manager says he's still one short for his outdoor patio.
A Liberty Corner restaurant manager said Wednesday he's still waiting to get a large table umbrella back that had been taken last week from the eatery's outdoor patio, despite a Piscataway pair's promise to return it. Nick Berisha, the manager of Focacceria, said he found a handwritten note signed by "Angela" that said the umbrella, one of nine at the restaurant's outdoor tables, would be returned later as part of an experiment on "doing the right thing." Police say they believe a purse snatching from unlocked vehicle and break-in foiled by a dog are linked.
Bernards Township Police said they believe the theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle at a house on King George Road and a burglary at a nearby home that was prevented by the family dog in a similar time frame are linked. However, not much was taken in either incident, police said. Police said a purse was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the driveway of a home on King George Road on May 27. However, the purse was later located, and the main items missing were a debit card and a credit card, police said. The credit card was expired, police said. Bernardsville police investigating burglary and theft reported early Friday morning at Somerset Hills Country Club.
The Bernardsville Police Department is investigating a burglary and theft of several golf trophies, along with three motorized carts, that reportedly took place at the Somerset Hills Country Club between 3 to 5 a.m. on Friday, borough police said. The police department was summoned to an alarm at the location of the club, at 180 Mine Mount Road in Bernardsville, according to a police report. Police said an investigation revealed that a burglary and theft had occurred, and that several trophies having an unreported value at this time had been reportedly stolen from the clubhouse. Bernards Township police report they received a complaint Monday of the theft of $40 worth of gas from a local station. A marijuana arrest also took place on Friday following a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 78, police reported. Township police said they received a call Monday at about 10:40 a.m. from a gas station attendant at the King George Exxon on King George Road, reporting a theft of gas. The attendant told police that a man had requested $40 worth of gas, and then fled from the gas station as the station employee was removing the gas nozzle from the man's vehicle, the police report said. A woman who said she used the bathroom at Stop & Shop supermarket and left her wallet in a shopping cart while inside returned to find the wallet missing, township police reported. The woman, a 31-year-old Lyons resident, reported the wallet stolen last Sunday at about 7:30 p.m., police said. She said she had been in the bathroom at the supermarket for about 10 minutes and the wallet, which was inside the shopping cart, was left unattended during that time, according to the police report. The woman told police she then continued her shopping and realized that the wallet was missing from the cart when she went to the checkout counter. A Somerset County grand jury has indicted a Hillside woman on a third-degree burglary charge for allegedly going into a resident's room at Fellowship Village and stealing his $100. Carline Chery, 46, of Hillside, was indicted on Wednesday, according to papers filed in the Criminal Division of Superior Court. According to an affidavit filed in court, township police went to Fellowship Village at about 9:30 a.m. May 25 to respond to a report that $100 had been taken from an 80-year-old resident's wallet in his room. The resident told police that when he was returning to his room from breakfast he saw an unknown woman quickly leaving his room, the affidavit said. Police: Three pairs of sandals taken from backstage at amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park.
Township police said a Basking Ridge resident reported that she and two other women apparently had their TEVA sandals stolen from the amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park while attending a rehearsal for a township "Plays in the Park" production. Police said the theft was believed to have occurred last Tuesday, July 12 ay about 8:30 p.m. The apparent theft of the three pairs of sandals was reported to police the following day, police said. Township police said they received a report of a stolen minivan on Sunday, May 29, that apparently had been left unlocked in the driveway of a residence on King George Road. Police said they received a call from a 42-year-old resident reporting that his 2004 Honda minivan had been discovered missing from his driveway at 5 a.m. on Sunday. The resident said the minivan had last been seen in the driveway at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 28, police said. The victim reported that the minivan was unlocked and that the keys were left in the ignition, police said.
