Congressional Hopeful: 'People Are Looking for Change'

Campaign event held in Basking Ridge for David Larsen, who opposes Leonard Lance in GOP primary.

Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, David Larsen, brought his campaign against 7th district incumbent Leonard Lance to Basking Ridge with a fundraising event on Tuesday night at the Basking Ridge Country Club. Larsen, a Tewksbury businessman, is seeking the Republican nomination in the June 5 primary election against U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance, who is campaigning for a third two-year term in U.S. Congress. Both candidates are new in Bernards Township, which through the remainder of 2012 will be represented by U.S. Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen as part of the 11th district. But due to redistricting following the 2010 census, Bernards Township will be shifted to the 7th district, joining the remainder of the Somerset Hills. Larsen said …

Letter: Regulations Stifling Job Creation, Says Candidate Larsen

Tewksbury businessman opposing U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance, seeking re-election to the 7th district, in Republican primary.

Editor's Note: David Larsen, a businessman from Tewksbury, is opposing incumbent Leonard Lance, in this June's Republican primary election to be included on the ballot in November to represent New Jersey's 7th district in U.S. Congress. The 7th district will next year represent all of the Somerset Hills and Long Hill Township, after redistricting will remove Bernards Township from the 11th district, currently represented by Rodney Frelinghuysen. To the editor, Government regulatory burdens are destroying job creation in America today. As a result, the private sector economy has lost 2 million jobs in the last 3 years. My opponent for New Jersey’s congressional seat in the 7th district, moderate Republican, Leonard Lance, has done nothing …

Letter: Candidate Larsen Calls For Lower U.S. Taxes

Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, David Larsen, said lower taxes — not higher — are needed to spur economy.

Editor's Note: David Larsen, a Tewksbury businessman is opposing U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-District 7) in the June 5 to seek the Republican nomination for New Jersey's 7th district seat in U.S. Due to redistricting, Bernards Township will be switched from the 11th to the 7th district as of January 2013, and therefore will vote for 7th district candidates in this year's election. The 7th district already represents the remainder of the Somerset Hills, and will continue to do so, as well as picking up Long Hill Township in January. To the Editor, Rising gas prices, wasteful government spending, Obama Care, now combined with our President’s rhetoric around raising taxes on investors and job creators, are all threatening to undermine our …

Letter: U.S. Congressional Candidate Discusses Energy Resources

David Larsen, candidate opposing Republican Leonard Lance in primary election, states his position on America's energy policies and resources.

Editor's Note: The following is a letter from U.S. Congressional candidate David Larsen of Oldwick, who is running in this June's primary election against Republican incumbent Leonard Lance, who represents New Jersey's 7th district in the U.S. Congress. Bernards Township currently is represented by 11th district Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen. However, Bernards Township will be redistricted to the 7th district, along with the remainder of the Somerset Hills, as of 2013, and will be voting for 7th district candidates in this year's election. Dear Editor,   America is brimming with the natural resources needed to produce energy. America is the Saudi Arabia of coal, containing the largest coal reserves of any nation on earth. America has …

Candidate Larsen: We Need New Energy in Congress

David Larsen is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress to represent Bernards and the rest of the Somerset Hills starting in 2013.

Editor's Note: The Greater Basking Ridge Tea Party has invited Larsen to discuss his candidacy and reasons for running at the organization's next scheduled meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 5, at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge. U.S. Congressional candidate David Larsen says his biggest concern is about career politicians who are more focused on maintaining their political careers than serving the residents—and the Tewksbury Township resident is hoping that this is one fact that earns him the Republican nomination for Congress in the June primaries. Larsen is running to represent the 7th district in Congress, challenging incumbent Rep. Leonard Lance for the Republican nomination. As of 2013, …

U.S. Congressman to Somerset Hills: Keep Federal Tax Breaks

Leonard Lance, who could represent Bernards next year, holds meeting in Bernardsville.

U.S. Congressman Leonard Lance, (R-District 7) who represents most of the Somerset Hills and whose district will expand into Bernards Township as of 2013, told constituents gathered in Bernardsville he believes improving and growing the economy is the best way to reduce America's budget deficit. Lance detailed his positions on many issues before an audience of local Republican officials, nearby residents and even political opponents in a Saturday afternoon gathering at the Bernardsville Public Library. Lance made it clear several times during his opening statement and while answering questions from a gathered group of at least 100 people that he considers handling the country's economic challenges the "overarching issue" in Congress, and …

I did not hear things quite the way they were reported here. I was not so enamored with the answers which I felt should have been more factual. Supporting Gov. Romney because Governor Christie did made me wonderful if Rep. Lance can make up his own mind. I think Gov. Christie is a fantastic Governor and I think Gov. Romney and Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are all great candidates…   more ›

LETTER: U.S. Congress Candidate Supports Budget Before Borrowing Act

David Larsen, a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, offers his views on the nation's debt and the proposed Budget Before Borrowing Act.

Editor's Note: David Larsen, a businessman from the Oldwick section of Tewksbury Township, is challenging incumbent Republican Leonard Lance for the Republican nomination for this November's election for U.S. Congress, district 7. Bernards Township will continue this year in its present 11th district, represented by U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, a Republican from Morris County. At that time, Bernards Township will be joined to other towns in the Somerset Hills in being represented as part of New Jersey's 7th district in U.S. Congress. Dear Editor, One step Congress can take to at least slow our escalating debt burden would be the pass HR 3778 — the Budget Before Borrowing Act. In August, some Republicans entered a deal with Democrats and…

I agree, Elizabeth. I think that is the point Larsen is making by supporting the Budget before Borrowing Act. The ill-named Balanced Control Act raised the debt ceiling by $2.1 Trillion and did very little to reduce costs. In fact, it provided funds to implement Obamacare. This alone did not create the conditions for the borrowing limit to be exhausted. However, it was somewhat shocking to find …   more ›
