It's still summer, and there's still summery things for both kids and adults to do this week, and into the next. Take Free Fridays, at the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge — even if you're not a member, you have a chance to try some activities at either the main YMCA at 140 Mount Airy Road, or the Riverwalk satellite. If your child likes animals and/or shows an interest in things equestrian, you can head on over to Rebel the Pony's annual big party this Sunday at Lord Stirling Stable off South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge. Jack Nicklaus Wing to Open at USGA Museum

Expansion set to be completed by 2015.

The USGA Museum in Bernards Township is adding 1,000 square feet to its historic museum building — with a goal of finishing the addition by 2015 — to create the Jack Nicklaus Room to celebrate a career that includes two U.S. Amateur titles, the four U.S. Opens and two U.S. Senior Opens. Nicklaus joins Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Mickey Wright as players with their own room at the USGA Museum at its headquarters at 77 Liberty Corner Road in Bernards Township, the USGA announced this week. Golf Trophy Thefts Remain Unsolved

No new incidents reported since three break-ins at golf facilities in May; no new leads in case.

Three break-ins during May that included the theft of golf trophies from the USGA Golf Museum in Bernards Township and the the Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville remain unsolved almost two months later, said authorities for the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office as well as the Bernardsville and Bernards Township police departments. "Nothing new with the USGA," Bernards Township Lt. Mike Voorhees said on Thursday. He said the township police are still working on the case with the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, which took the lead in the investigation following the mid-May break-in and thefts of two historic trophies at still working on it with SCPO. UPDATED: No Breaks Reported Yet in USGA Museum Theft

The United States Golf Association Museum on Liberty Corner Road was burglarized early Wednesday morning, with two historic trophies reportedly taken from cases that had apparently been broken open with an ax, authorities said. Township police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's office on Thursday afternoon said there was nothing new yet to report in the case. The reported theft took place less than a week after several trophies were reported stolen at the private Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville. Bernards Police Lt. Michael Voorhees said the USGA theft is being investigated in cooperation with the continuing Bernardsville investigation. However, the police chief in Bernardsville said it is premature to link the two incidents …

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano announced Wednesday afternoon that Somerset County Crime Stoppers, Inc. is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the individual or persons responsible for a burglary and theft of historic trophies reported overnight at the USGA Museum located at 77 Liberty Corner Road, Bernards Township.
