Reward Offered in Holy Cross Mausoleum Vandalism

Granite vault panels removed and damaged at cemetery on Mount Airy Road last week.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered as the investigation continues into the vandalism of a Bernards Township mausoleum. Several granite vault panels were damaged and removed from an outdoor mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery at 130 Mount Airy Road during the overnight hours between Jan. 15 and 16, according to a statement released Friday by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Bernards Township Police Chief Brian Bobowicz. The criminal mischief at Holy Cross Cemetery included damage to approximately 20 individual granite panels pried from their mounting positions between the hours of 3:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, and 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 with an initial damage estimate of between $1,000 to $8,000, the chief said …

Police: Mercedes Benz Rear Window Smashed

No items missing from vehicle parked in front of Green Mountain Drive residence.

The rear window of a 2011 Mercedes Benz parked in front of a Green Mountain Drive residence was shattered sometime between last Thursday evening and Friday morning, township police reported. The vehicle, parked in front of the owner's home at the time, most likely was damaged some time between Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 7:30 a.m., police said. Nothing was found to be missing from the vehicle and no other vehicles in the area were damaged, according to the township police report. The cost to replace the broken car window is not available at this time, police said on Tuesday.
