Nedler Strong as Ridge Gains Experience

Senior 160-pounder posts three wins as young Red Devils continue learning process.

The Ridge High School wrestling team came into the Hillsborough quad meet on Saturday looking for some opportunities for its young wrestlers to gain experience by competing against some solid opponents. The Red Devils got just that against the three other teams in attendance. Despite only going 1-2 on the day—posting its lone victory against Weequahic—the Red Devis wrestled several notable matches in a meet that also involved Hillsborough and Bridgewater-Raritan. “It shows us that we’re capable of competing, but also that we have a long way to go. Ridge Wrestling Unable to Match Somerville in 57-21 Loss

The Ridge Varsity Wrestling loses first encounter against a tougher Somerville team.

The Ridge High School Varsity Wrestling team on Thursday faced a tough opponent, Somerville High School, but showed promise despite the evening's 57 to 21 loss. Many of the matches were a lot closer than the final score depicted, and at times could have gone either way. Vince Bommier, 103-pound class, Sean Kane, 135-pound class, Kolter Nelder, 160-pound class and Cameron Radinovic, 189-pound class, supplied the points for Ridge by winning their respective matches. Shane Gong, 125-pound class demonstrated excellent skills on the mat and nearly won his match, but lost to a 3 to 1 regular decision. Ridge also lost three matches by forfeit because they the team could not provide wrestlers for the 152-pound, 215-pound and 285-pound weight …
