Head to the Streets for Charter Day, With More Fun On Way

If you possibly could have avoided seeing the banners in town, or hearing children talk, here's the news — this Saturday is the return of Charter Day, Bernards Township's annual celebration of the founding of the township of Bernardston by order of British King George II in 1760. While you can learn about history, there are also plenty of purely entertaining things to do at this day and night-long annual event, including hearing music and dancing in the street, sliding down a blow-up slide, picking up loads of freebies and stuffing yourself with treats like fried oreos and a gourmet meal (this is the Somerset Hills, after all). As Mother's Day approaches, many people will spend at least some time with their mom, grandma or some other important woman in their lives. But over the next several days, leading into next week, there's plenty of other things to do, either on your own or with friends or family members. It's time to have some fun listening to music and/or dancing. As often in the Somerset Hills, some of the most enjoyable activities also are fundraisers for worthy causes. And spring is here, so it's time to go look for some plants to cultivate whether to surround yourself with flowers — or edibles. Time for VNA Rummage Sale, Japanese 'Manga,' & More

Lots to do this week, including 'fork raising' for a cause and exclusive look at important history made in Somerset Hills.

The next few days offer both fun and fascinating events to attend and things to do. And of course, there's the pleasure of buying great things while helping a cause — and your money can go pretty far at the long-running spring rummage sale to benefit the Basking Ridge-based Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills. The VNA's three-day marathon rummage sale officially opens its doors at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and runs through Sunday. You can also learn what's just been discovered recently about how important the Somerset Hills was during the American Revolution. Chabad BBQ, Swamp Search Coming Up

This weekend is a chance for some of the most enjoyable rites of spring, including Chabad's annual BBQ and plantings.

You know this area has finally shaken off the winter doldrums when so many of spring's annual events are back in a weekend that almost has too many things to do. Bernards Library Events, 'More Than Me' Party Coming Up

The Bernards Township Library continues to offer multiple events to appeal to adults and children of all ages throughout the week. We've included a few, but you can find a full list online.
