Santa Pays Informal Visit to Liberty Corner Village

Santa arrives on Liberty Corner fire truck for some one-on-one time with local kids arranged by Bernards chamber.

It started with a reading of "The Night Before Christmas" and continued with a stroll down Church St. for refreshments at the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church — and, of course, then Santa arrived.

Santa arrived on one of the Liberty Corner Fire Co's trucks, lights flashing, for what turned out to be an informal get-together with local children.

The event was put on Thursday night in Liberty Corner Village by the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce, with some other businesses providing some of the refreshments.

The chamber had held a holiday parade in previous years, an event which required a permit and planning. By contrast, Thursday night's holiday event — which didn't require a permit — was conducted on a drop-in basis.

Santa greeted kids outside in the cold, sitting on the front of the fire truck while kids confided their holiday wishes, and parents snapped pictures.
