New Police Officer Sworn into Bernards Department

Anthony England Jr. to earn $50K annually.

Bernards Township's newest police officer, Anthony England Jr., was sworn onto the force Friday by Township Clerk Denise Szabo.

England's parents, Rosa and Anthony England, Sr. attended the swearing-in along with Bernards Township Police Chief Brian Bobowicz.

England will replace retiring Sgt. Joshua Fowler as the township department's 38th officer.

Fowler has been with the department for more than 25 years, and is due to leave in July, Township Administrator Bruce McArthur said in June. The retiring sergeant was officially thanked for his years of service in a resolution approved by the Township Committee last week.

The hiring of a new Bernards Township police officer was authorized by the Bernards Township Committee on Monday night to take the place of a retiring officer, Sgt. Joshua Fowler, as the 38th officer on the township police force.

England will be paid an annual $50,000, according to the resolution approved by the Township Committee.
