John Candee of Bernardsville plays taps on trumpet as veterans from the Bernardsville and Basking Ridge Memorial VFW Post 7858 lower the flag in front of the Bernardsville Post Office on a rainy Friday before Memorial Day. Dozens of children and adults waited and watched from inside the post office on Quimby Lane, and then participated in a flag-folding ceremony. Basking Ridge-based heartworks served the veterans a homemade dinner in a room in the back of the post office.

The Flag Tells the Tale at VFW Ceremony

Local children and HeartWorks are on hand to support local veterans raising and lowering the flag this week at Bernardsville Post Office.

Ridge High School buses were rerouted as of the morning of Feb. 1 2012 to the rear of the Cedar Hill Elementary School, where there is a paved walkway leading to the back of the high school. Residents of the nearby Homestead Village neighborhood have been protesting since. The latest proposal is to install a two-way driveway by the Bernards Health department to divert some traffic directly to the rear parking lots.
