Ridge Synchronized Skater 'Skates for Love'

RHS Junior Kaity Vermillion exhibited skills at Susan G. Komen, Skate for the Cure, fundraiser.

This week, we are recognizing Ridge junior Kaity Vermillion, who demonstrated her synchronized skating skills during a fundraiser performance for the Susan G. Komen, Skate for the Cure, North Jersey affiliate. Her performance with the Precisely Right Synchronized Skating team was held last week at Mennen Arena.

  • Patch Kid of the Week: Ridge High School Junior Kaity Vermillion, a member of the Precisely Right Synchronized Skating Team. The team is part of the Skating Club of Morris, which is a non-profit skating club, a part of the United States Figure Skating Organization.
  • Patch Kids' Major Activity: Kaity began skating when she was five years old, and joined the Precisely Right Skating Team at age 10. She also is webmaster for the Precisely Right Team's website.
  • Patch Kids' School/Church/Community Center: Kaity is a junior at Ridge High School.
  • Patch Kids' Accomplishment: Kaity was the co-captain of the team this past season — and now will be captain — consisting of 24 girls and one boy from all over northern New Jersey and one that comes from Pennsylvania.The team competed all over the U.S. against other teams. Katie has skated many times for charity shows, both with a team and as a single skater. Donations still may be made to the Skate for Love website.
  • Patch Kids' Key to Being Noteworthy:  Skating has brought many great opportunities for Kaity. She will be going this summer to the State Games of America in San Diego, Ca., to compete against  winners from local state games all over the U.S.  She is a gold medalist from the 2005 and 2007 State Games of America in Colorado Springs, Co.
