Special Election Wednesday for U.S. Senate Seat

Polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters in Bernards Township and elsewhere in New Jersey have an opportunity to head to the polls from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday to vote in a special election to place a representative in the U.S. Senate to represent N.J. following the death of Frank Lautenberg.

Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Steve Lonegan are the two main candidates who won special primaries to be listed on the special election ballots.

However, other candidates listed on the ballot through petition include Edward C. Stackhouse, Jr.; Pablo Olivera, Eugene Martin LaVergne; Robert DePasquale, Antonio Nico Sabas and Stuart David Meissner.

Lautenberg's unexpired term continues through 2014. 

Voters should have received sample ballots listing their polling location.
