The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable will host their annual Father’s Day Ride on the scenic trails of Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable, 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ. The ride will take place on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with check-in at 10:30 A.M. Rides may be added and times adjusted to accommodate additional registrants.

This event is suitable for those with little or no riding experience and is open to adult riders, their families, and friends. Children not currently enrolled in a class at Lord Stirling Stable must be at least 12 years old. Riders must not exceed 200 pounds.

Riders may choose to ride in one of two groups.  A leisurely, walk-only ride is offered to novices and non-riders and  more experienced equestrians may opt for the walk/trot/canter ride.  Trail Guides will be happy to point out and attempt to identify the various plants, birds and animals that may be seen on the 18 miles of trails at Lord Stirling Stable.

Mail-in registration forms are available through the Stable office and on the Friends web site at www.flssnj.org.  The fee is $25 per rider for Friends of Lord Stirling Stable members and $30 for non-members. Forms and payment must be received by Tuesday, June 3, 2014. There is a $4.00 charge for each helmet and boot rental. Payment may be made by cash or check.

Lord Stirling Stable is located within Lord Stirling Park in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 450 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. The Stable features a large indoor ring, three outdoor rings, daily Lead Line pony rides, and 18 miles of beautiful trails.
