Gamble or Rock n' Roll for Good Causes This Weekend

Elsewhere, a rummage sale or staging of modern classic are economic choices for entertainment.

A production of a modern musical classic will be on display this weekend, as pleasing sounds are a major part of a number of events you can attend. There are also a number of benefit events that should provide an evening of entertainment.

Here are this week's picks:

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Where/When: Villagers Theatre (Somerset); Saturday, noon and 3 p.m.; Sunday, noon.
Why Go: Fun for the whole family, as a production of the classic will be directed by Derek Mazukiewicz. At $10 a ticket, it's cost-effective way to spend your weekend.

2. Rock n' Roll While Benefiting Fire Company
Where/When: ; Saturday, 7-11 p.m.
Why Go: The Tattered Prophets, the group performing, are a lot of fun, and you can expect a night of music and dancing, light food, and refreshments while benefiting a local fire department.
Pricing: Adults $25; seniors $20; children under 13 free

3. Bethel Ridge’s 18th-Annual Emerald Ball Gala
Where/When: Stone House at Stirling Ridge (Warren); Friday, 7-11 p.m.
Why Go: Because the proceeds of the evening support the residential, employment, education, and recreational services provided by Bethel Ridge to people with developmental disabilities. There will be silent and live auctions, as well as dancing and a 50/50 drawing. There will also, of course, be great food.
Pricing: $125 per ticket; $1,000 for a table of ten

4. The Music of  "Wah!"
Where/When: (Warren); Friday, 8-10:30 p.m.
Why Go: It's something a little different from the norm, as the group combines Hindu chanting, reggae and pop music.
Pricing: $24 prepaid; $30 at the door

5. Rummage Sale
Where/When: ; Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go:  Items for sale will include housewares, vintage items, toys, games, sports equipment, kitchen items, books videos, appliances, and more. Also, all proceeds will go to local and global ministries.
Pricing: Free to enter

6.
Where/When:  (Basking Ridge); Saturday, 7-11 p.m.
Why Go: You can legally gamble right in Basking Ridge, thanks to the Cedar Hill School Parent-Teacher Organization, enjoy some refreshments and contribute to the cause of raising money to update the elementary school library.
Pricing: $75 per person includes admission, wine and beer and food.
