Somerset Hills Kids Invited to Labor Day Bike Races in Downtown Basking Ridge

Area residents are invited to the traditional end-of-summer bike races in Basking Ridge.

The Bernards Township Parks & Recreation presents the annual Labor Day Children’s Bicycle Races on Labor Day, Sept. 2. Online registration already has started.

Races are scheduled to begin at noon on South Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to register to participate in straight bicycle sprints down South Finley Avenue toward the finish line at the intersection with Lewis Street.

Pre-registration is required for this free event. Register online now at www.bernards.org. Click on the blue “register online” button on the homepage and enter your household’s user name and password, according to the recreation department.

Registration is free, and no fee or credit card information is required. Participants also may print a registration form and register in person at the Parks & Recreation Department located at 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge, or send in registration by mail.

Registrations will not be accepted on race day.

Olde Mill Inn Tour also will be held

For information on the Olde Mill Inn Tour of Basking Ridge Labor Day bicycle races contact Greg Cordasco at LibertyCycleBikes@gmail.com or 908-630-0110.

Participants will be grouped by age and gender. Ages 3 - 6 may ride a bicycle with or without training wheels.

All riders are required to wear bicycle helmets and their bicycle must pass a safety check at the starting line. Bicycles may have multiple gears and any wheel diameter. Balance bikes, tricycles or push bikes are not permitted.
