MORE SUNDAY EVENTS: Lord Stirling Winter Festival

Full weekend of events as holidays approach.

If you're looking for something to do over the next few days, the list through this weekend certainly should give you plenty of options.

Whether it's welcoming the holidays, or listening to music, shopping or getting out in the fresh air — or indulging your artistic side — there's something for everyone this week. Activities for children are mixed in with the list.

Where/When:
The 20th annual Advent Extravaganza is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 45 Church Street, in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township.
Why Go: Wrap gifts for those in need, enjoy crafts and refreshments and get in the Christmas spirit. For more information and to register, go to www.libertycorner.org or call 908-647-0340.

Free, except for $15 cost to cover materials for Advent wreath.

13th Annual Winter Holiday Festival
Where/When:
The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable (FLSS) will present the 13th Annual Holiday Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, at at 256 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Children will enjoy hayrides through the woods to see Santa at his house and Santa’s Workshop will be open for games, craft projects, food, and more. Free pony rides will be available at various times. The Junior Horse Show will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with a performance by the Junior Drill Team at 1 p.m.
Cost: Admission and parking are free. is free.

Where/When: Open House 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, starting on Friday, at the Jacobus Vanderveer pre-Revolutionary War House off Route 202/206 in Bedminster.
Why Go: See gorgeous reproductions and authentic antiques recreating a Colonial Christmas. The Pingry Balladeers will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday and Santa will be there from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Holiday boutique, more, as you're contributing to the continuing restoration of the museum.
Cost: $10 for adults, children 12 and under are free.

Country Mile Garden Christmas Tree Benefit
Where/When: From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday at Country Mile Gardens, 1108 Mount Kemble Ave., Harding Township.
Why Go: On Dec. 3-4, $10 will be donated from every tree cut above 5-feet tall to the of Basking Ridge, which contributes to the educational needs of children who have lost a parent to death.

Where/When: Fridays and Saturdays 10 am. to 5 p.m., Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to Dec. 18 at Wagner Farms Arboretum, 197 Mountain Ave., Warren.
Why Go: Jewelry, artwork and original crafts offered in fundraising project aimed at funding a new greenhouse for the Arboretum. Kristina Lloyd, gallery coordinator with the Farmstead Arts in Basking Ridge, is participating.
Cost: Admission is free.


Where/When: The Frost Fest begins Friday night at the in Basking Ridge with the highlight of this weekend a at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Frost Fest lasts from Dec. 2 to Dec. 18 at the EEC, 190 Lord Stirling Road.
Why Go: Because how many times do you get to say "mush" to a team of sled dogs in New Jersey? Lots of other events coming up, too, to welcome winter with open arms.
Cost: Free for some events, fee for others.

Annual Christmas Tree Sale at Bishop Janes United Methodist Church
Where/When:
The first trees are scheduled to be delivered at 7 a.m. on Saturday. The sale is scheduled for Nov. 26 through Dec. 24, or until trees sell out.
Why Go: There's nothing like a real tree, and this sale goes to support charities and community service projects. The sale has been going on for about 50 years!
Cost: Prices set for individual trees.

Photography 11 Exhibit
Where/When: The monthlong exhibit and sale featuring 28 area photographers will continue on weekends through Dec. 18 at the center at 650 King George Road in Basking Ridge. It is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Why Go: To view and possibly purchase works by some of the area's most talented photographers.
Cost:
Free, bring your wallet.


Where/When:
Doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday at Bishop Janes United Methodist Church at 22 S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge center, featuring five bands from the area, many with Basking Ridge residents.
Why Go: Have a great time tapping into the local band scene, and also contribute towards relief for a worldwide humanitarian relief fund.
Cost: $10 per person.

December Bernardsville Artwalk
Where/When: From 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, at art studios and businesses throughout downtown Bernardsville
Why Go: TAlways a fun evening with plenty to view, demonstrations, plenty to nibble and, this month, work by Rabbi Yitchok Moully from the Chabad Jewish Center in Basking Ridge will be at WallFlowers Gallery, 15 Olcott Square in Bernardsville.
Cost: Free admission, cost of artwork

Old Fashioned Holiday Bazaar
Where/When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church, 118 King George Road, Warren. 
Why Go: Handmade Christmas gifts and decorations available, and the kids can see Santa (between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday). All proceeds benefit the church's building fund, helping to maintain the 100+ year old church.
Cost: Only what you spend.

Breakfast With Frosty
Where/When: Saturday at 9 a.m. at JFK Primary School in Raritan
Why Go: To take pictures with Frosty the Snowman, and take part in arts and crafts, and other activities.
Cost: $5 per person

The Nutcracker
Where/When: Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Bridgewater Senior Center on Somerville Road
Why Go: To watch the members of the New Jersey Youth Ballet, with the Dance Connection in Hillsborough, perform the classic Christmas ballet for seniors in Bridgewater.
Cost: $10

All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast
Where/When: Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Raritan Valley Masonic Lodge #46 on Doughty Avenue in Somerville
Why Go: To enjoy delicious pancakes while checking out a historic Somerville landmark.
Cost: $6 for adults, $4 for children under 12, and children ages 3 and under eat free.

Breakfast with Santa
Where/When: Sunday at 8 a.m. at California Pizza Kitchen at the Bridgewater Commons Mall
Why Go: To eat either breakfast pizzas, french toast sticks or pancakes with the big man from the North Pole.
Cost: $8 per person, with children under 2 years old eating free, and a portion of the proceeds going to the United Way.


When/Where: Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. at the in Hillsborough.
Why Go: It’s Dickens’ holiday classic.
Cost: $17 adults; $15 seniors and students


When/Where: Saturday 8 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m. at Why Go: The kids can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus while also having a breakfast buffet. You’ll need reservations for either sitting, which can be made by calling Mark Brownlie at 908-431-0527.
