UPDATE: Thursday's 60th anniversary picnic for the community at the Somerset Hills YMCA, to be followed by the Flag Day 5K run, was put off due to heat and rescheduled for Sept. 24.

Another popular 5K run, the Ridge Runs for Team Boomer on Sunday, benefits the Boomer Esiason Foundation and cystic fibrosis organizations.

On Monday, the Bernards Township PBA holds its annual fun day of lunch and golf at the Basking Ridge Country Club, while raising money for multiple worth causes.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at  in Basking Ridge.
Why Go:
 To grab your sneakers and run to breathe. Proceeds from annual run and event benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation and the cystic fibrosis community. There is a 5K run for all ages and a track-and-field competition for children kindergarten through eighth grade.
Pricing:
 $25 for race day entrants.


When/Where: 
At 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, at the in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: 
 Besides the chance to enjoy a good game of golf, the fundraiser supports multiple programs through the PBA, including Project Graduation, the DARE anti-substance abuse program in local schools, the Special Olympics and other charitable organizations.
Pricing: 
Game, sponsorships range from $150 to $500; call township Officer Hank Werner or Detective Robert Herndon at 908-766-1122.


When/Where: 
Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at  in Basking Ridge. Drill team performance begins at 1 p.m.
Why Go: 
Come cheer and watch adult riders show off their skills.

You can choose your stride in an exciting 5K race while taking strides to end homelessness among veterans.

Warren eesident Bob Marino will serenade you with a love song and his smile will woo you.

Why Go: 
To learn the 3 Rs of successful gardening and increase the value of your landscape investments.

To meet celebrity chef Tyler Florence and get an autograph. His new food-friendly wines will be available for tasting.

Why Go: To spend your Friday night laughing at Brian Regan, one of the premier comedians in the country.

Why Go: Because Molière’s enduring comedic masterpiece about the hypocrisy of polite society sounds like a great Saturday night out.

Why Go: To boost your summer reading experience by grabbing as many books as you and your family want.

Because kids and family will learn how to aid the survival of the New Jersey bats.

Why Go: 
This awesome project is fun to build and part of the Build and Grow Clinic. You will be right on par with a Father's Day gift created with your own two hands.
Pricing: 
Free, but registration is required.

When/Where: At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at in Hillsborough.
Why Go: 
To run, swing, slide, and make new friends in a brand new park. The specially designed play equipment is for all children, those with and without special needs.

From 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Michael's in Bridgewater.
Why Go: 
To honor Dad with a heartfelt gift that you designed yourself.

 Free with purchase of a tie or T-shirt.
