Basking Ridge Resident Receives "Physicians We Admire" Award

Gastroenterologist Joseph Zangara, MD, of Basking Ridge, has been named the recipient of the first “Physicians We Admire” award to be presented by Chilton Hospital in Pequannock.  

Dr. Zangara achieved an overwhelming level of recognition staff members who work with him almost daily in Chilton’s Endoscopy Suite, according to a news release from the hospital in the Pompton Plains section of Pequannock.

Dr. Zangara has been in practice for 12 years and has been a member of the Chilton Hospital Medical Staff since September of 2001, the release said.

The Physicians We Admire award was created to provide Chilton Hospital staff the opportunity to recognize physicians who embrace the organization’s five shared values on a daily basis: collaboration, ownership, excellence, compassion and innovation. The award winner also is one who leads the health care team in delivering high quality, safe, personalized patient care. 

Some comments from the nomination forms for Dr. Zangara were: 

·        “Dr. Zangara is exceptional and no words can describe what a great physician he is. Not only is he excellent at what he does but he shows great compassion and kindness to all patients.”     

·        “Dr. Zangara goes out of his way to explain anything to patients and families to their satisfaction and always pulls up a chair to do so.” 

·        “He has the best bedside manner that I have ever seen. He is the kindest doctor and I have been a nurse for 30 years!” 

“All of our physicians play a vital role in what we do every day,” said Chilton Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Joanne Reich. “With this award, we celebrate and highlight one of our physicians who takes ownership in working with all staff to meet patients’ needs and who provides compassionate care each and every time to our patients and their families.”
