Aquatic Adventures, Kayaking, River Trips and More at Environmental Education Center

The following programs will take place from August 2 - 8.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonder and the beauty of nature as summer takes hold in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many programs for children and adults year around intended to entertain and educate.

Natirar Hijinks Hike – NEW
Tuesday, August 3 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Children ages 4 to 6 with a parent will join a Naturalist on the newly
opened trail at Natirar to celerbate summer with games and a
scavenger hunt on a hike through the fields and forests.
Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child.

Bird Beak Bonanza
Wednesday, August 4 from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Children ages 7 to 9 will learn why different birds have different shaped
beaks and why each shape is suited to specific foods.
Fee is $10 per person.

Imagination Station
Thursday, August 5 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
Children ages 4 to 6 will join a Naturalist to hike the trails of Lord Stirling
Park and create their own outdoor games and activities, using
imagination to enjoy nature.
Fee is $12 per person.

FAMILY & ADULT PROGRAMS

CAN-U-CANNU
Wednesday, August 4 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Prepare for EEC river trips with an introductory class on basic paddling
techniques, safety, and handling a canoe in and out of the water.
Fee is $10 per adult and $8 per youth or senior.

KAN-U-KAYAK
Thursday, August 5 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
Prepare for EEC river trips with an introductory class on basic paddling
techniques, safety, and handling a kayak in and out of the water.
Fee is $18 per adult and $14 per youth or senior.

Aquatic Adventures
Saturday, August 7 from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
Family and friends will explore the EEC swamp tanks and enjoy a hike
around the ponds of the Great Swamp to learn who lives there and how.
Fee is $9 per person.

HELP! – New
Sunday, August 8 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Environmental Education Center Naturalists need help from adult
volunteers with a variety of endeavors including gardening,
assistance with preparation for programs and special events, sign
making and more.
The program is free.
