Bernards Library Children's Programs Focus on Kids Activities for February Break

The library will hold two movie nights and special storytelling performance the week students in Bernards Township schools have off in February.

Parents looking for fun activities for their children next month during February break need to look no further than the Bernards Township Library.

The library released its February children's program calendar today (full list below), including two movie nights, a storytelling performance and the popular Paws for Reading program during the week children in Bernards Township schools are off.

On Monday, Feb. 22, the library will show the newly released "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" from 2-3:30 p.m. As with all of the other programs during February break, the program requires no registration and anyone can drop-in for the fun.

Professional storyteller, Julie Pasqual, will perform her "Loud and Rowdy Tales" routine on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 3-3:45 p.m. for children ages 5 and up.

"[Pasqual] started out as a dancer actually, and so she is very animated," Library Children's Program Coordinator Ginny Bartsch said. "She calls it her loud and rowdy tails because it encompasses a lot of things." Dancing, stomping and shaking are to be expected according to the description given on the library's calendar.

Later on Wednesday, the library will show "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" as part of Tween Movie Night for children in fourth grade or higher.

The PG-rated action comedy stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams and Robin Williams as the come-to-life statue of Teddy Roosevelt. The film is the sequel to "Night at the Museum," where figures in the Smithsonian Institute come alive at night.

The week wraps up with Family Book Bingo on Friday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. and Paws for Reading, where kids age 6 and up read to St. Hubert's trained dogs, on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Registration is required for the Paws for Reading program, and begins on Feb. 1.
