Charter Day, 5K for Kindness, Meetings This Week

The biggest community celebration of the year is this Saturday, municipal budget due for final passage on Tuesday.

Charter Day, which is celebrated this year as the anniversary of the founding of the township of Bernardston by order of British King George II in 1760, is coming up this Saturday.

Along with the historic aspects of the date, there's lots of fun each May during the full-day event, which will run from about 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. or so.

Also this week, those who want to participate in an official 5K run for a good cause (or at least take a mile walk) can join a fundraiser for the charitable activities of the St. James Men of Charity, based at St. James Church in Basking Ridge.

And speaking of St. James, students at the also on South Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge, will be putting on a performance of Fame Jr. at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. The suggestion is that maybe you can stop at the musical after spending a couple of hours at Charter Day.
