FDA Issues Salmonella Warning for Daniele Sausage and Salami Food Products

A 38-state outbreak has led to a recall of over 1.2 million pounds of sausage products.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a salmonella warning for Daniele International Italian sausage products, including salami today.

Daniele has issued a recall for 1.2 million pounds of sausage products in response to Salmonella serotype Montevideo illnesses outbreak in 38 states. New Jersey has reported seven cases of salmonella poisoning.

The Center for Disease control is currently investigating the outbreak, and updates can be found on the CDC website: http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella.

Wal-Mart and Costco carry Daniele products, according to a FDA news alert.

Stop and Shop carries the Daniele Italian Bran Gourmet Pack and has alerted customers to the recall on that item. The store manager at A&P Food Supermarket on King George Road said that the store does not carry Daniele products.
