Liberty Corner Church Choirs Perform At Patriots Baseball Stadium

Singers from the church choir give their annual peformance of the national anthem.

Local editors and other representatives from Patch (including the Basking Ridge Patch editor) were staffing a table at Rutgers Night on Tuesday at the TD Bank Park, the Somerset Patriots stadium in Bridgewater, when all of a sudden we heard the announcement that the national anthem would be sung by the Gallery and Student choirs.

Well, as far as we know, there's only one Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church — the one on Church Street in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township.

The choirs perform at a Patriots game once a year, Peggy Simpson, from the church, said on Wednesday. The event had been publicized beforehand in the church bulletin so church members would have a chance to go and see the performance.

Tuesday's game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs was "Rutgers Night" and was a fundraiser for Eric LeGrand, paralyzed while playing a game for the Rutgers football team at a game last October.
