Looking Ahead to Spring This Week

Bernards Township golf course open, athletic fields to follow, and planning for this year's Charter Day celebration.

The Bernards Township and the opening of the township's athletic fields is scheduled for this Saturday. Spring's activities are truly in bud this week.

On Monday, the Parks, Pathways and Recreation Committee is scheduled to meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bernards Township municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane. The parks department is entering its most active time of the year.

A meeting to discuss planning for this year's Charter Day, held each May in downtown Basking Ridge, is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday at town hall.

And all during this week, spring sports at Ridge High School launch their season. Many boys lacrosse, softball and more.

Another perennial fixture of spring, the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills' twice-a-year giant rummage sale, is on the horizon. The helping donors to unload at the Far Hills Fairgrounds.

  • The last days for the Bernards Township "2013 Essence of Bernards" Photography Contest is Monday, with submissions due between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge.
  • The Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance abuse is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bernards Township Health Department at  262 S. Finley Ave.
  • The Bernards Township Board of Adjustment regular meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the municipal building.
  • The Bernards Township Deer Management Advisory Committee is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday.
